Forever Light Bulb

I found this on ProductDose.com (sadly the picture of the bulb didn't get copied over) ... I read in Popular Science a couple months ago that if everyone in the country would switch over to these types of lightbulbs it would cut our energy consumption in half ... that's something to shoot for!!!:

Forever Bulb

September 13th, 2005

Scientists from Japan and America collaborated and designed the Forever L.E.D. Light Bulb , a light bulb that can illuminate forever. As in, put it in once and never replace it. Turn this corrosive-resistant bulb on in your bathroom and not even humidity will stop it. Turn it on and leave it on forever—it will not burn out. How does that work? Unlike ordinary incandescent bulbs, Light Emitting Diodes don’t have a filament that will burn out, and they don’t get especially hot. They are illuminated solely by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material. Up until recently, LEDs were too expensive to use for most lighting applications because of this advanced material. The price of semiconductor devices has plummeted over the past decade, however, making LEDs a better lighting option. LEDs save you money, save energy and shine brighter. Science is your pal.
